State Govt bid to provide relief to disaster-hit traders

In a bid to provide succour to the disaster-affected trading community — who have lost their establishments in places wedged between Tilwada and Kedarnath and were under stress due to the obligations of paying loans and its EMIs — the State Government has decided to pay the interests due on their loans to the banks concerned on September 2.

It would be pertinent to mention that it was one the promises the Chief Minister Harish Rawat had made while addressing to the people of Uttarakhand on the eve of 68th Independence Day. The media in-charge Suendra Kumar informed this while talking to the media persons on Tuesday. In this regard, the Chief Minister has instructed Chamoli and Rudraprayag District Magistrates to send instant reports on the number of the beneficiaries. He also asked them to  send a roadmap about how to rebuild Kedar Valley that was ravaged by natural disasters.

He also instructed them to take into confidence the public representatives, the common people and the priests of temples while preparing the roadmap.  The CM reiterated that the importance of the priests cannot be undermined in view of the fact that the administration cannot organise   char dham yatra without taking help from them. “So their opinion on the matter is vital,” he said.

He also reiterated that despite the disaster in June-2013, three lakh pilgrims have come this year. “We are committed to assist the disaster-affected business community so as to help them regain their livelihood,” the CM said.
