State Govt appoints Secretaries in-charge to help Ministers

Published on:

To help Ministers in-charge tasked to take care of the districts, the State Government has appointed Secretaries in-charge with an objective to speed up development through prompt execution of the projects being envisaged during the meetings the Ministers in-charge convene.

Principal Secretaries have been made in-charges of the three plain districts while Secretaries have been made in-charges of remaining 10 districts in the hills.

From now onwards, these Secretaries would attend the meetings to be convened by the Ministers in-charge in their respective districts and they would ensure clearance of the decisions to be taken at such meetings through the secretariat.

Its objective is to ensure timely implementation of the Government decisions, say the State Government sources. Currently what happens is that though such Ministers hold meetings in their respective districts with the district administrations and give  them the directions the directions are not being  executed on the ground.

The officials say though they send such proposals to the Government  they are not in a position to ensure that the  required budgetary allocations would follow to implement them.

To  stop such excuses being put from the administration, the State Government has put into place the new system of  appointing Secretaries in-charge. The Government hopes that  the newly appointed Secretaries in-charge would  understand things  that would evolve out of the meetings convened by the  Ministers in-charge and would take things to the  departmental heads sitting in the secretariat to clear the decks for their timely implementation .

Principal secretary Radha Raturi has been made in-charge of Dehradun while Manisha Panwar in-charge of Haridwar  and Anand Vardhan in-charge of Udham Singh Nagar, the three districts falling in the plains of the State. Besides, Secretary Amit Negi has been made in-charge of Tehri, R Meenashisundaram in-charge of Rudraprayag, Shailesh Bagoli in-charge of

Uttarkashi, Vinod Sharma in-charge of Chamoli, D Senthil Pandian in-charge of Almora, Radhika Jha in-charge of Pauri Garhwal, Vijay Kumar Dhondhiyal in-charge of Champawat, Harbans Singh Chugh  in-charge of Bageshwar, Arvind Singh Hyanki in-charge of Pithoargarh and Chandrashekhar Bhatt in-charge of Nainital district.
