The State Government has appointed IPS officer Ajay Rautela as Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police on Thursday. Rautela was earlier in 46th Battalion PAC, Rudrapur, Udhamsinghnagar. Improvement in traffic regulation and reducing crimes in the capital city are some of the challenges facing the newly appointed SSP.
The post of Dehradun SSP had been vacant after the previous SSP Kewal Khurana was attached to the Police Head Quarters on Sunday. Police have failed to solve many murder cases. Dehradun has seen a huge rise in land prices which has spawned land mafia. Solving murder cases of Neeru Saini and 70-year-old woman Rajesh Sharma who was a relative of IG Ram Singh Meena, murder of two property dealers are some of the challenging cases awaiting closure.
