The State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Indira Hridayesh said on Monday that the State Government is ready to set up an all -party committee to look into 2013 disaster relief scam.
“The monsoon session of the State Assembly is drawing near. I would ask the Speaker to set up an all-party committee to probe the alleged disaster scam if the Opposition BJP members are not happy with the Chief Secretary’s report on the same,” she said.
She, however, hastened to add that the Opposition is hell-bent on making a mountain out of a molehill. “Though natural disasters are unstoppable our agencies engaged in relief and rescue operations discharged their responsibilities sincerely braving tough conditions,” she said, adding that they are still doing things excellently. “Char Dham pilgrimage is continuing smoothly thanks to them,” she said.
The Opposition BJP has rejected the report submitted by Chief Secretary, dubbing it as tailored to humour the State Government and reiterated its demand for a CBI probe.
