State Foundation Day at Space Application Centre

The Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) will start work on mapping of traditional and local crops in order to improve the financial condition of farmers and make them self reliant.

The USAC director Durgesh Pant said this at a gathering organised to mark the State foundation day on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pant said that work on mapping of traditional local crops will also link the farmers with technology. He said that the centre will work towards reaching all areas of Uttarakhand including the border areas through space technology.

The USAC is providing training on the Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) in border areas of the State as part of its Science of Survival (SOS) programme. Pant exhorted the scientists and employees of the centre to set their targets and work efficiently towards achieving the same in order to achieve the level of development envisioned during the Statehood movement.
