After a consultation held recently, the State Government is also focusing on promoting the national mission on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to get more and more sellers registered in the portal. According to officials, GeM is an efficient and transparent system which cuts down on the time and expenditure involved in public procurement of goods and services.
It helps in speedy and efficient procurement process online by basically eliminating the role of mediator for smooth flow of goods and services, without market survey or study. It is a major transformational initiative to change the mechanism of procurement from lengthy and complicated documentation procedures.
This portal will give opportunity to local and nationwide sellers to provide goods and services for public procurement with full transparency.
Officials inform that the national mission on GeM which will continue till October 15 in Uttarakhand is focusing on maximising the number of sellers registered in the portal.
This mission will also gives opportunity to small entrepreneurs, enterprises and service providers such as self help groups, women entrepreneurs to become involved in GeM.
