State Congress urges Govt to expedite development work

Published on:

Many a ruling party MlAs public outburst against his own Government on the matter of tardy pace involving developmental works in their respective areas must have provided food for thought to the political commentators of late, but the State Congress leadership seems to have taken these MlAs’ concerns seriously.

lending credence to the disgruntlement setting in the party MlAs over the pace of developmental works in their respective areas, the State Congress leadership has urged the State Government to carry out developmental works in accordance with the party manifesto.

“The manifesto is like a holy book for any political party. It has helped us to return to power. So to carry out the developmental works as per the party manifesto is need of the hour,” said Kishore Upadhyaya, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president, during his Kumaon visit here on Monday.

What is causing concern is that over two and half years have passed in fulfilling certain formalities, including the general and local body elections.  Although the developmental activities are going on yet we urge our Government to work according to the promises that the party has made to the electorate. The party manifesto epitomises the promises we made to the people of the state during the Assembly polls, he added.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat, mass leader par excellence, is well aware of the aspirations of the people of the hill state. We also call upon the party workers to reach out to the people and make them aware of all the popular works being carried out by the State Government, Upadhyaya further said.

Notably, some of the ruling party MlAs like Mayukh Mahar, Congress MlA  from Pithorgarh, vented anger and disappointment over the non- implementation of some developmental projects in their constituencies-moves directed against their own State Government sometime back.

Since development nowadays remains a key poll plank for any party the State Congress looks pretty serious on the matter with 2017 Assembly election approaching in Uttarakhand.

At the same time the UPCC president did not forget to hit out at the BJP led Central Government, alleging that it had made huge promises to the people of Uttarakhand. But it has so far done nothing to help the State Government even in carrying out the relief operation in disaster- hit areas. He hinted at stir to be staged by his party against the Centre in time to come.
