Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay released the details of the assets and liabilities of Chief Minister Harish Rawat and his wife Renuka Rawat, worth about Rs 3 cr, incuding movable and immovable property.
Kishore Upadhyay said that the head of the State BJP and leader of opposition should follow suit and make public their assets and liabilities. Accusing the BJP's State leadership of misleading the public on the issue of permanent State capital, the PCC chief invited the BJP leaders to come up with a concrete proposal and facilitate Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre for building the infrastructure necessary for making Gairsain the permanent State capital.
Addressing the media in Dehradun on Wednesday, Upadhyay revealed that the value of the CM's movable and immovable property was about Rs 1.89 crore while the value of his wife Renuka Rawat's movable and immovable property was about Rs 1.34 crore.
He said, "We are ready to reveal the asset details of our prominent leaders in the coming days. The BJP with its three ex-Chief Ministers should also follow suit and at least its State head Tirath Singh Rawat and leader of opposition Ajay Bhatt should disclose these details."
Accusing the BJP of having a history of confusing the public on various issues, Upadhyay said, "I read the statement of the BJP State head claiming that if the BJP is elected to office in the 2017 assembly polls it would make Gairsain the permanent State capital. Why did the BJP not make Gairsain the State capital during the term of its interim State Government from 2000 to 2002 and later from 2007 to 2012IJ The State needs Rs 10,000 crore to build the infrastructure needed to establish Gairsain as the permanent State capital. I invite the BJP leaders to approach the State Government with a concrete proposal for making Gairsain the State capital. They should also facilitate Rs 10,000 crore fund from the BJP-led Central Government to Uttarakhand for this purpose," he added.
The Congress State co in charge Sanjay Kapoor averred that the result of the recent Bihar assembly elections had shown that the people were disappointed with the functioning of the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
