A few months left for the Assembly polls, the top brass of the State Congress met here on Monday to draw the outlines of the ‘Satat Vikas Sankalp Yatra’ slated to start from October 30.
The yatra is meant to mobilise public opinion against the Centre for showing indifference towards the cause of development of the State as well as against the Narendra Modi Government for failing ts poll pledges. The Chief Minister Harish Rawat was also present in the meeting.
Tearing into the Centre on the matter of terrorism, Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay said the surgical strike had turned an imperative in view of the Centre dithering for long on the strategy to take on the menace of terrorism. “The strike could have been avoided had the Centre acted on the threat in time,” he said.
He exhorted the party activists to get into the right gear to ensure that the party returns to power in the State. “Things as to who would lead the party to the election would be decided at a meeting to be held soon,” he said.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Upadhyay said that the march isa meant to expose the conspiracy hatched by the Centre to engineer defections to dislodge non-BJP Governments in the States.
“Besides, it would highlight the emotive issue of the Centre inclined to sit on the funds meant to boost development of the State. They even declined to release funds for the Ardh Kumbh Mela,” the State Congress chief said.
