Indian soldiers have always shown unparalleled courage in protecting the nation. The soldiers from Uttarakhand have made the ultimate sacrifice in all battles fought for the nation, said Trivendra Singh Rawat after laying a wreath at the  martyrs memorial on the occasion of Shaurya Diwas on Friday.

Rawat said that the Indian army, navy and air-force are ahead on all fronts. He said that while knowledge is vital for keeping the nation secure, for guarding the borders of the nation it is vital to be strong with weapons. For resolving the issues faced by ex-servicemen, the additional chief secretary will be nodal officer at the state level. The service identification document of soldiers will be valid to allow them entry in the secretariat. They will not have to stand in line separately for entering the secretariat. In each district, the additional district magistrate has been made the nodal officer for resolving issues of the serving and ex servicemen. Rawat also said that the CM helpline number 1905 is open for any citizen to lodge a complaint. The issue will not be considered resolved till the complainant is satisfied with the action taken. The chief secretary reviews the CM helpline number every month while the CM himself also does so from time to time.

Recalling that prime minister Narendra Modi had said that Sainya Dham would be the fifth Dham in Uttarakhand, Rawat said that a large and grand Shaurya Sthal will be built in Dehradun. This memorial will have the names of soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation. This modern Shaurya Sthal will have various types of facilities. The land for this monument has been identified in Dehradun, he said, while adding that the State government will provide all possible assistance to serving and ex-servicemen.

Rawat also felicitated decorated army officers, soldiers, family members and widows of martyrs on the occasion. State minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MLAs and ex-servicemen were also among those present on the occasion. Shaurya Diwas was observed similarly in various districts of the state.
