The State cabinet is slated to hold its first meeting on the Tehri dam reservoir on Wednesday. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will reach GMVN huts on Tehri lake where he will also review the preparations for Tehri Mahotsav apart from holding a cabinet meeting on the floating marina.

Rawat said that holding an important cabinet meeting at Tehri lake is an innovative initiative as such a meeting will be beneficial for the state in various ways. He said that such an initiative has been taken as the popular government elected by the people should also take decisions at the door steps of the people. To connect the far flung areas situated away from Dehradun is also another motive behind this initiative. The Chief Minister said that by holding cabinet meeting at Tehri not only the natural beauty of the Tehri lake and opportunities of tourism will be brought into focus but the history and future potential of Tehri will also be showcased. He said that efforts would be made to find solutions to the problem of migration and relocation suffered by the people of inaccessible areas in districts like Tehri.

Meanwhile, Tehri district magistrate Sonika and senior superintendent of police Vimla Gunjyal inspected the lake to check preparations for the cabinet meeting.

The DM directed the police and revenue department officials to observe necessary care in view of the cabinet meeting on the floating marina.

She said that without a valid pass, no one will be allowed to enter the Tehri lake when the cabinet meeting is being held.

The CM is slated to arrive at the Koti Colony here at 8:50 AM on Wednesday to inspect preparations for the Tehri Mahotsav. After this, he will attend the cabinet meeting from 11 AM to 1 PM on the floating marina before departing for Dehradun, added the DM.
