State BJP unit jumps on Yoga bandwagon

Enthused by the huge response the Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s scheduled Yoga programme is eliciting, the State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has jumped on the Yoga bandwagon. On Tuesday, the party organised a ‘Walk for Yoga’ as a prelude for the mega programme featuring the Prime Minister lined up on June 21- International Day of Yoga.

A large number of BJP  leaders and workers assembled at the Mahanagar office of Dehradun near Parade Ground and walked through Indira Market, Rajpur Road, Paltan Market and Dispensary Road and then came back at the party office.

Addressing the party workers on the occasion, the State party president Ajay Bhatt said that Yoga is a priceless heritage of the Indian culture which the saints of the land conceived and handed out to the world following extensive experimentation. Talking in a lighter vein,  he said that  the elderly people clad in Yoga T shirts are  looking much younger for their age. “If they adopt Yoga in their life style, they will remain ever young,” he said. He, further, said that it is a matter of pride for the State that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to the city to perform Yoga in Dehradun on the International Day of Yoga. He  urged the party workers to make the programme a grand  success.

Brushing aside the criticism of the opposition parties for the alleged Yoga day excesses, Bhatt said it just reveals  their conceited mentality.
