Attacking Vidhan Sabha speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, the Bharatiya Janata Party State unit has released a video footage dated March 18 of the previous year when opposition was demanding division of vote on appropriation bill and nine Congress MlAs also joined the BJP but speaker did not take cognisance on it. Despite higher number of opposition, the speaker passed the budget and by doing this he had "murdered the democracy". While releasing this video clip to the media BJP state spokesman Vinay Goyal said that people knew how speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal had murdered the democracy so they would teach him lesson in this assembly election.

He said that on March 18, 26 MlAs of the opposition excluding Ganesh Joshi who was arrested and Bhimlal Arya were present and later nine Congress MlAs joined opposition while House was having a division of vote on appropriation bill. Despite knowing the fact that 35 MlAs including nine Congress MlAs, out of 68 MlAs present inside the house, speaker pronounced budget passed. He said that he had sought video footage from Vidhan Sabha but they did not provide the same citing law and order as the reason but his source has provided him the raw footage of that day.

Goyal further said that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is coming to Rishikesh as a counter to prime minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Dehradun on December 27 but could not muster courage to organise public rally in an open place. Instead of convening public rally they have confined their leader in close door meeting, he added.
