In a bid to woo voters, the State BJP launched Ganga Kalash NaMo Vijay Yatra from its head office in Dehradun on Saturday. The yatra will travel in all five lok Sabha constituencies of the State. A Kalash, containing holy water of the river Ganga was brought from Kashi. The Ganga water was collected when Modi went to file his nomination papers for the lok Sabha elections from Varanasi constituency. The Yatra was launched by State BJP president Teerath Singh Rawat amidst sloganeering—‘Modi ki jai’ and ‘Desh ka PM kaisa ho-NaMo Jaisa ho’.
In his address before flagging off the Yatra, Rawat expressed hope that the yatra led by MP Tarun Vijay will boost the morale of the party workers and help win all five seats in the State. He is sure that Modi will unfurl the Tricolour from Red Fort this August and Uttarakhand must contribute it’s share in ensuring that.
Talking to media, Tarun said that NaMo has emerged as a new-Bhagirath of the nation’s ‘Vikas Ganga’. If in the ancient times, Uttarakhand gave Bhagirath who brought river Ganga on this earth, then it is a proud privilege of this State to give Himalayan support to the new Bhagirath for development-Ganga. The Yatra will travel to Haridwar, Shrinagar, Karnprayag, Almora, Pithoragarh, Haldwani and Rudrapur campaigning for the party.
Other dignitaries — including State BJP organising general secretary Naresh Bansal, Neelam Sehgal (city president), Vinay Uniyal, Vinod Sharma, Umesh Agrawal, Abhimanyu Kumar, Prakash Suman Dhyani, Punet Mittal, Vinod Uniyal, Urva Datt Bhatt, and several hundred workers participated.
