State bearing the brunt of rift between Cong and PDF

Tearing into the Congress, now engaged  in a tussle  with the Congress-led State Government over the  continued alliance of the Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) with the party, Uttarakhand BJP president said on Friday that the State is bearing the brunt of the deepening fissures between the party and the Government it leads. “Development works are being thwarted with the officials desisting from implementing the public welfare programmes,” he said. He dared the PDF  to sever  ties with the Congress and  the government  to spare  itself  the humiliation the group  has been suffering at the hands of the influential State Congress leaders.

Bhatt said that with both Congress and PDF locking horns, it is the state that  is suffering the consequences.   “We have not been surprised by what is happening. The Congress and the PDF came together after the  2012 election  with the  sole  motive of  grabbing and enjoying power. It is  an opportunistic  alliance with nothing ideological to cement them. Now  quite naturally, they are drifting apart ahead of the election,”

“It is clear that  the Congress has no commitment to the welfare of the state  and the people, inclined as  they  are to cling to power by any means. It  has pampered the PDF for so long a time as  it proved a useful tool for it to stick to power. PDF  leaders are equally  power hungry. Which is why they are sticking together despite the state Congress  president humiliating the  PDF   almost daily. They  seem to have no self respect  left in them. The people are watching them,” Bhatt said.

He further said that the sooner  PDF severs ties with the Congress the better for them. “Otherwise, they would forfeit the trust the people reposed in them during the 2012 Assembly election,” the  state BJP chief said.
