State armed forces veterans to organise rally tomorrow

In support of their demand for a Government order on One Rank One Pension (OROP), the armed forces veterans of State would organise a rally in the State capital on Sunday. Announcing about the plan of the rally the office bearers of the United Front of Ex Servicemen of Uttarkhand informed media persons here on Friday that the President of All India United Front of Ex servicemen (UFESM), Major General Satbir Singh would address the rally.

One of an important leader of UFESM, Major General lalji D Singh said that the delay in issuing Government order on OROP is causing unnecessary doubts and apprehensions in the minds of armed forces veterans. He said that the Government should expedite issuing the orders so that OROP could be implemented soon as the figures are required by the 7th pay commission as a base for their computations. The Spokesperson of UFESM Uttarakhand, Col P l Parashar appealed the veterans of state to attend the proposed rally on Sunday in large number and listen to the views of Major General Satbir Singh.

The union Government announced implementation of OROP on September 05, but most of the ex servicemen are not convinced by the provisions of revision of pension after every five years and are of the view that it should be done on Yearly basis.

They believe that the Government is under wrong impression that yearly revision would be a mammoth task. Similarly the idea of taking mean of higher and lower pension for OROP is also not pleasing the ESMs, they consider it as against the basic norm of OROP which implies that pension of all those who hold same rank and have equal years of service is same, irrespective of the year when one retires.
