The standoff between the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun and Doon Valley Waste Management company appeared to have been resolved a day after it began.
The company had stopped collecting garbage in the city on Thursday, while the MCD had planned to undertake the collection and dumping of garbage on its own.
Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli held a meeting with officials on Friday after which he said that the standoff had been resolved.
It should be noted here that the DVWM company refused to undertake collection and dumping of garbage from the municipal area on Thursday demanding that it be first paid its dues. The Mukhya Nagar Adhikari
Ashok Kumar said that the corporation would undertake the task on its own to collect the garbage.
In absence of garbage collection, overflowing municipal bins could be seen in many localities. Congress councillors along with Rajpur Road MlA Rajkumar met the MNA to complain about the sanitation problem.
The Mayor told The Pioneer that the issue had been resolved and that garbage would be collected as disposed as usual.
However, residents of many localities in the State capital are unhappy with the corporation and company for anomalies in the garbage disposal system.
