The department of posts would release a special stamp depicting medicinal flower shankapushp on the occasion of this year’s spring festival at Raj Bhawan. The festival would be organised on February 28 and March 1 this year. The Governor of Uttarakhand Dr KK Paul chaired a meeting organised at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday for selection of dates for the annual spring festival. The Governor would apprise about the event at a curtain raiser programme on February 27.
In the meeting the governor asked the officials to ensure that the festival is more popular and successful this time. He said that the festival should help in establishing Uttarakhand as State of flowers and directed that a documentary film for the festival should be made. The Governor said that more and more flower growers, florists and non-governmental organisation should be involved in festival and literature should also be provided to the visitors at the spring festival.
The Governor said that the theme of the drawing competition on the occasion should be on the Swachchh Bharat Programme and advised topics like green city, clean city, my beautiful garden and my dreams and cleanliness for the students.It is worth mentioning here that specially able children are given priority in the drawing and painting competition.
The Governor said that the dignity and cultural identity of the State should be highlighted in the cultural progames on the occasion. The spring festival is organised by the horticulture department of the State and various contests are organised in the event. The meeting was attended by OSD of Governor Arun Dhondhiyal and secretary in-charge of Horticulture Dr Nidhi Pandey.
