Issue of deploying assistant traffic inspectors (ATI-Transport) may take a new turn, with Roadways Karmchari Sanyukta Parishad demanding implementation of old system to position the ATI from the lot of senior most clerks. Simultaneously, the employees want a permanent system for selection of the ATI.
According to present system, conductors are promoted to the post of clerk after certain years of service. This is a process that takes place time to time. As per rule of the system, the senior most clerks of the promoted conductors should be deployed as ATIs. Office bearers of the Parishad alleged that rules to deploy were breached several occasion during past few years by assigning the task of ATI to the junior most clerks. The employee unions are against the decision. They question the decision taken by senior authorities.
Vijay Kumar Mamgai, GS, Parishad, said, “There is a provision to assign the task of ATIs to the clerks. As per that the senior most clerks should be elevated to the position of the ATIs. Ironically, this has not happening for the last few years”. Mamgai wants the management to make a permanent system for allotting the task of assistant traffic inspectors to the clerks. “There should be permanent arrangement to deploy the ATIs. How long temporary system can work. Eventually, there would be requirement of a permanent arrangement,” Mamgai said.
He said that the Parishad had already apprised the senior officials of their opinion on the matter and they apprise them on the matter once more. Thereafter, it no attention was paid, the Parishad would be bound to launch a demonstration. Mamgai said that the Parishad was looking at the next step of the corporation.
He said that the Parishad was demanding for removal of the seven tainted ATIs who were given change against the rules. Some of the ATIs were the junior most clerks.
