Demanding timely disbursal of salary and redressal of administrative anomalies, representatives of three staff associations of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (HQ) and the Forest Research Institute met the FRI director on Friday.
A day after demonstrating in support of their demands, the association members were assured by the council officials that their demands would be taken up in the ICFRE board of Governors meet within a month.
Members of the three staff associations of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (HQ) and the Forest Research Institute- Federation of Scientific Association, Technical Staff Association and Ministerial Staff Association of the ICFRE are demanding timely disbursal of salaries.
According to TSA secretary CM Sharma, since its creation in 1986 as an autonomous body through a Cabinet note the pattern implemented in similarly created bodies like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has not been implemented in the ICFRE.
“We are demanding that either the cabinet note be implemented or that the council be handed over back to the Government of India. On Friday morning we met the FRI director and explained our demands to him. later we met the ICFRE ADG and secretary who assured us that our demands will be accepted by the council’s board of Governors in a meeting within a month. We have decided to hold our protest for a month,” added Sharma.
It is worth mentioning here that staff of the ICFRE HQ complain that since most of the senior officials are IFS officers on deputation, they have not taken serious cognisance of the problems being faced by the employees. This has prevented these issues from being redressed on time.
