Continuing with its drive to help the elderly persons, women, physically challenged and others, not cared for by their relatives, senior superintendent of police Pauri Jagat Ram Joshi distributed 157 quilts among them in police line in Pauri on Friday. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the recent humanitarian assistance drive launched by the district police is making the people to change their perception of police.

Notably, as part of the drive launched in August, the police officers from the high brass down to the constables are visiting the  elderly people and others who are living alone both in the rural and the urban areas once a month to enquire  into their problems and to solve them, a show of empathy that is endearing the law keepers to them.  The quilt distribution added to the contact drive is making the force a people friendly one in its true sense, say the observers.

The number of quilts distributed on Friday by SSP Joshi is  157 while earlier, quilts were also distributed among the needy people in  Satpuli on Thursday.
