SSP objects to 'collective leave' sanction to cops

Published on:

Expressing strong objection over leave sanctioning to large number of police personnel together, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kewal Khurana directed his juniors not to show large heartedness for the same since it affects work.

At present, 125 police personnel are on leave from the reserve police lines and 52 traffic police personnel.

As the fact came to his knowledge, the SSP held a meeting with the Circle officers and Superintendent of Police (rural area) Mamata Vohra.

The SSP asked the police officers to show a little restrain in sanctioning the leave to the police personnel.

He reinstated the old system that enables station officer to sanction 10 per cent of leaves to the police personal. Similarly, it entitles circle officer to sanction leaves up to 15 percent. Superintendent of Police (City) (rural area), as per order, is entitled to sanction more than 15 per cent leave to the police personnel. He said that the old system should be followed strictly.

The SSP, however, clarified that the police personnel asking for leave for genuine reason and urgency should be given leave.

He said that the policemen should keep the fact in view, while sanctioning leaves, that the police department could not afford sanctioning leave to large number of constables and head constables together since it affects work.

All the station officers were apprised of the order issued by the senior superintendent of police.
