SSP calls for maintaining communal harmony at any cost

In view of Muslim holy month of Ramadan — the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of fasting — now underway, police station officers have been directed to conduct peace committee meetings regularly apart from intensifying patrolling in their jurisdictional limits to maintain peace and harmony during the period.

While giving the instruction while presiding over a meeting with the police station officers at police lines on Friday, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti said that the police personnel who are dealing with the public issues must behave well and keep patience while interacting with the people.“They would not use mobile phones except under emergencies,” she said while asking them to conduct checking drives at the check posts to stop vehicles carrying illegally mined materials and to slap penalties on the violators of the rules. Besides, she stressed on keeping tab on the movements of those who were involved in burglaries in the district in the past while asking police to crack the pending crime cases at the earliest.
