Chief Minister Harish Rawat has ordered a temporary arrangement to be put in place wherein senior State Cabinet Ministers will take cognisance of and act upon various issues in the absence of the CM. Senior Cabinet minister Indira Hridayesh has been authorised to act in cases the CM is unable to attend to.

Addressing the media here on Monday, the CM’s media in-charge Surendra Kumar Agrawal said that while apologising to the members of public reaching the CM residence and office daily to submit their petitions, Rawat has requested the people to submit such applications to his officer on special duty CS Jeena at his residence in the Bijapur Guest House except on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The action taken on these applications will be reviewed by Principal Secretary, CM office, SS Sandhu till the Chief Minister remains hospitalised. Rawat has further directed that a senior minister will remain present in Dehradun to take cognisance of and direct action on important issues brought before the administration on a daily basis.  The calendar for this is being prepared on the instructions of the party leadership. After consultation with the Congress leadership, the CM has also decided that senior Cabinet Minister Indira Hridayesh will resolve issues needing inter-departmental consultation on the advice of the Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar.

Hridayesh has also been given the authority to take necessary decisions on issues pertaining to State employees disputes in consultation with her cabinet colleagues. Rawat has also instructed that Hridayesh will take necessary decisions as per the procedure in cases presented to the administration wherein the CM is unavailable for discussion due to technical reasons.
