Spurned by Government, employees on warpath again

Angered over the state government’s decision to deduct one day’s salary of the employees who were on mass leave on January 31 and keeping silent  on their pending demands during the meeting of the State Cabinet held on Wednesday, the Adhikari Karmchari Shikshak Samanvay Samiti (AKSSS), the umbrella organisation of all the employee associations, has decided to resume its agitation.

Quizzed over the threatened stir  of the employees, the state government spokesperson Madan Kaushik said that everything can be solved through mutual talks. He added that the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is himself handling the issue.

The convener of the AKSSS, Santosh Rawat said that it had been decided during AKSSS with the finance minister Prakash Pant that the pending demands of the employees would be brought before the state cabinet meeting. “ But  the cabinet meeting held on the day kept silent on the issue   of the employees. As per the programme, the employees would work wearing black arm bands on February 12 and 13,” he said.

Rawat  further informed that on February 15, candle marches would be held in all the district headquarters. “On February 24, the AKSSS has given a call  for rallies which would be held at all  the district headquarters. On this day, the executive body of AKSS would hold a meeting in Dehradun to declare date of the indefinite strike,” he added.

The employees  are demanding the benefit of Assured Career Progression (ACP) at the end of 10, 16 and 26 years. Besides, the employees are demanding the old pension scheme be restored and compulsion of referral from the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand scheme be removed. AKSSS is also demanding the class IV employees be given benefit of staffing pattern in which grade of pay of Rs 4200 is provided.
