The Sports Minister was somewhat taken aback when some sportspersons started shouting slogans as he arrived at the Maharan Pratap Sports (MPS) College for inspection. These sportspersons belonging to the Dehradun Fencing Association were demanding that the Secretary and the Officiating secretary of the association are engaging in rampant corruption and should be immediately removed. The general secretary of the association Ashwani Bhatt said that Secretary Geeta Sharma and officiating secretary Viresh Yadav are holding their positions ever since the state was created. He alleged that these officials charge money from the fencing players for sending them to the national events. Bhatt who was accompanied by some sportspersons said that the secretary of the association is sending the teams to the national games and other events without even holding the trials.The Sports Minister assured the agitators that would look in the matter and take appropriate action.Interestingly the agitators continued their slogan shouting even after the Minister gave assurance to them, this infuriated Agarwal and he asked them to agitate outside the sports complex.
