Sportspersons from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) have also brought glory to the nation in their respective categories in the ongoing Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta. ONGCians have bagged a total of six medals including three Silver and three Bronze, contributing to the 38 medal tally of the national contingent.

ONGC’s Apurvi Chandela won bronze for India in 10 meters Air Rifle Mixed Team in the team event, while ONGCians Ankita Raina won Bronze in women’s singles tennis, Shardul Vihan won the Silver in men’s doubles trap shooting, Heena Sidhu won Bronze in women’s 10 metre air pistol, Hima Das won the Silver in women’s 400 metres and Dharun Ayyasamy bagged the Silver in men’s 400 metres hurdles in the individual capacity at the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta.

ONGC Chairman and Managing Director Shashi Shanker congratulated the players for bringing laurels for India and assured ONGC’s commitment towards sports and sportspersons. He said that the management would stand shoulder to shoulder with the sportspersons and be there for them as pillars of support.

Out of six, four medals are won by women sportspersons, which echoes ONGC’s core value of being an equal opportunity employer and that it promotes gender equality. It should be mentioned here that 38 ONGC sportspersons are in the Indian contingent for the Jakarta Asiads, the biggest participation from corporate India.
