To create awareness about cleaning the river Ganga, the sports department would organize a half marathon on October 26. The Sports minister Dinesh Aggarwal said the event would be flagged off by the Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The half marathon participants would have to cover a distance of 21 km from Rishikesh PG College to Har Ki Paudi in Haridwar. The department would provide a cash award of `1 lakh, 75,000 and 50,000 for participants securing first, second and third positions respectively both in male categories. The department would also organize two run for fun events at Rishikesh town on the day.
