In view of the spike in thefts and burglaries, Garhwal Range deputy inspector general (DIG) of Police Pushpak Jyoti is set to launch 15-day- long special preventive drive in the range from Thursday. He directed the range police officers to take measures to check such crimes happening in the locked houses besides chain snatching in their jurisdictional limits.
The police officers were asked to launch campaign to recover weapons from the persons who have acquired them illegally.
