One person was killed in a road accident on Wednesday when a speeding truck hit a bicycle rider near Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT).
Eyewitness account suggest that the truck struck a person, who was riding a bicycle, head on near the office of power corporation near ISBT in the Patel Nagar police station area; the accident was so severe that the bicycle rider died on the spot.
The Station Officer (SO) of Patelnagar police station Pankaj Garola informed that the deceased person Chandra Mani Joshi (40 years) was an electrician and was a resident of Gana Vihar in Sevla Kalan area of the city. He said that the driver of the truck Shamsher a resident of the Kalyanpur in the Sahaspur area was arrested by the police from the spot. The police confiscated the truck and sent the body of the deceased for postmortem. Incidentally the accident is third of its kind in less than a week on the roads of Dehradun. On November 9, a seven year old boy lost his life as he was hit by a speeding motorcycle in the Nepali farm locality falling under Raiwala police station area.
