Special teachers take to streets

Published on:

In support of their demand of creation of jobs in education department, the association of Special teachers (who teach specially abled children) organised a Secretariat march on Friday.

Under the banner of Special teacher welfare association many agitators gathered at the old Raipur bus stand from where they marched to state secretariat. The police however stopped them at Kanak Chowk where they squatted on the road and indulged in slogan shouting.

The speakers on the occasion said that under the Right to Education (RTE) act the State Government should appoint special teachers who are qualified to teach differently abled children. They said that there are more than 20000 such children in the State.

The agitators said that the High Court on April 27, had directed the State Government to appoint 157 block resource persons to ensure education to children with special needs but the State Government is sitting over the order of the court. The members of the association threatened to intensify their

agitation if their demands are

not accepted.
