With the opening of the Char Dham shrines for the devotees, politics over this Himalayan pilgrimage has also heated up as usual. The BJP which is expecting a clear cut majority for its alliance as it has claimed, has allegedly said that if the Congress party could hold the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi responsible for the recent violence in Assam, it is likely that it (the Congress party) might also charge Modi with hatching conspiracy to cause tragedy in Kedarnath valley last year.
The Congress is holding the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, and for that matter, the BJP responsible for recent violence that took place in Assam. “But we are saying the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has been Rajya Sabha member from Assam since 1991. So what he has done to ensure security for the people of Assam during so many years,” asked senior BJP leader and leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ravi Shankar Prashad during his visit to the Nainital-Udham singh Nagar parliamentary constituency here on Sunday in support of party candidate Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
“More so, the Congress party has been at the Centre for the past 10 years. So who was responsible for violence in Assam in 2008, 2012 and now in 2014,” senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prashad further said, adding “so our point is that what the Congress party has been doing for the past a decade or so for the security of the people of Assam. However, our concern is that if the Congress party can blame us for the Assam violence, it may also accuse us of causing the Himalayan tragedy experienced in Kedar valley last year,” he further said.
In the meantime, senior BJP leader Prashad maintained that the “BJP would bring a special policy for conservation and sustainable development of the Himalayas as we have also mentioned it in our manifesto.”
“More so, under this special policy for conservation and sustainable development of the Himalayas we would also open a Central university in Uttarakahnd dedicated to Himalayan study if voted to power,” added the senior BJP leader.
“All the Opposition party including the Congress party have joined hands to oppose Narendra Modi only for the sake of Opposition,” alleged the senior BJP leader and leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
“The Opposition parties have no agenda for the welfare of the people of this country. But we would like to maintain that the BJP led NDA is getting 300 plus seats with special focus on good governance and development,” the senior BJP leader further said.
