Dozens of Samajwadi Party activists gheraoed the Vidhan Sabha, protesting against the State Government’s anti-common people policies.

The members accused the State Government of failing on all fronts. Increasing crimes against minors and women have exposed that the State Government’s flamboyant claim of providing security to the residents of the State is mere flippancy. The law and order situation in the State keeps deteriorating day by day, but the Government seems to be hibernating, the agitators said.

The SP members assembled at their party office at Parade Ground and shouted anti- Government slogans. led by the State party president Dr Satyanarayan Sachan they marched up to Vidhan Sabha. They were stopped at police barricading at Rispana Bridge.Sachan alleged that successive State Government of BJP and Congress have done nothing for the welfare of the people. Rather, they have been encouraging loot in the name of development.

The State Government has failed to check migration of people from the hills down to the plains. No policy has been framed to address the issue of unemployment in the State.“Corruption is running rampant in the State and bureaucrats have become autocrats. The successive State Governments have failed to go for a permanent state capital, though around 14 years have passed since Uttarakhand came up”, the SP leader said.

The State Government should fix the minimum support price for sugar cane. A special campaign should be launched for making ration card for the unprivileged. The process of making domicile certificate and caste certificate should be made easy and simple. Heath services in the state should be strengthened.

labour laws should be implemented in the earnest.  A memorandum addressed to the CM Harish Rawat was submitted to the administrative officer at police barricading, Rispana Bridge by Sachan in presence of ex-president Vinod Barthwal and other party workers.
