SP leaders stage demo

To remind the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of the pledges inscribed in its election manifesto, Samajwadi party Mahanagar members staged a demonstration at Gandhi Park on Tuesday.

Speakers on the occasion said that BJP leaders had failed to act on its promise of providing jobs to 2 crore unemployed youth of the country. Besides, the promise of depositing `15 lakh in the bank account of each of the countrymen has remained unfulfilled, the SP leaders said.

Referring to the ill-effects of the note ban, crores of youth have been thrown out of their jobs and over hundred died while  standing in queue to withdraw cash from ATMs in the aftermath of the note ban, they said.  They also mentioned GST which was enforced sans prior preparations. This has disrupted trade across the country. Small and big businessmen are being severely affected by GST and this is resulting in an alarming dip  in India’s growth rate from 7.1 per cent to 5.1 per cent, SP leaders alleged.

SP Mahanagar president Alok Rai said that while campaigning for the State Assembly election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked about double engine Government, meaning the same party Government at the Centre and  in the State. “Despite the double engine Government, unemployment, migration, corruption and price hike  among others are staring the people in the face,” he added.
