Senior Samajwadi Party leader and UP Cabinet Minister Rajendra Singh on Wednesday accused BJP of stoking communal tension to gain political advantage in Uttar Pradesh. Citing Kairana town of Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, he said that the place is a new tool for BJP after Mujaffarnagar and Dadri for instigating communal tension to polarise voters ahead of the election.
“We must remember that Kairana is known for communal harmony. Peace was not disturbed there even when parts of UP witnessed violence during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. But the BJP MP claimed that 346 Hindu families have been forced to flee Kairana recently due to threats and extortion being resorted to by criminal elements from a particular community. This is false and fabricated, designed to polarise the electorate on the communal lines ,” said the SP leader.
Interacting with media persons at Press club of Haridwar on Wednesday, he further said BJP is trying to destroy our Ganga-Jamuni culture (composite culture) which is a dangerous trend for the social fabric of the country.
Targeting BJP president Amit Shah, SP leader said he is a master of divide and rule game. “We are working on developmental issues and progress of the State while BJP is intent on generating hatred in the society. Our government will take strict action against those who are spreading violence.”
The SP leader also said that his party would contest from as many seats as possible in Uttarakhand. “It would emerge as a healthy alternative in the hill State. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will visit Uttarakhand soon,” he said, adding that his party would not go for seat-sharing with any other party in Uttarakhand.
