State Samajwadi Party president Dr SN Sachan said on Friday that the revelation of sting operation has raised serious questions over the integrity of the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat. He demanded the secretary to the Chief Minister Mohammad Shahid be sacked immediately.
Sachan said, “An independent agency should be engaged to fix at whose behest the sting operation was conducted.”
SP will take out a protest rally upto Governor’s house on July 27, demanding formation of lokayukta, action on Bhati Commission and Tripathi Commission reports, cap on facilities being enjoyed by the former CMs and inquiries on the RTI reports of corruption. “Besides, we want vigilance departments being made more active in their functioning. Health facilities must be made to sync with the people’s medical requirements,” he added.
Dr Sachan alleged that the successive BJP and Congress governments in the state have made corruption an art of governance, enmeshing the bureaucrats in the vicious net. “The governments run by both are more friendly to the mafias rather than to common people,” SP leader said.
He further alleged land mafia, liquor mafia and the like are ruling the roost with the government machinery dancing to their tunes. “We want a movement against corruption on the lines of statehood movement, involving all. “The state must be freed from the vicious clutches of BJP and Congress,” he asserted.
