'Soon, direct train services from lalkuan to Mathura, Agra'

The newly appointed Divisional Rail Manager Chandra Mohan Jindal has said that after completion of work on the broad gauge track from Bareilly to Kasganj in June next year, direct train services will be started from lalkuan to Mathura, Agra and other big cities. In view of the gradient at Haldwani and Kathgodam stations, the lalkuan station will be modernised, he added.

Reaching lalkuan by train from Bareilly, Jindal inspected the entire station and later discussed the rail traffic in the control room.

Addressing railway officials, he expressed surprise at seeing a narrow gauge coach kept at the station 93 years ago and presently being used as an office by railway staff. He informed that after conversion the narrow gauge into broad gauge from Bareilly to Kasganj, it will be convenient for passengers to travel to big cities via Bareilly.

“For the railways, lalkuan is an important station because repair works will be carried out here and long distance trains will be operated from here due to the gradient at Haldwani and Kathgodam stations. We remove encroachments from our land but will require more land for construction of pit line, ART line and stabling line for which we will have to remove encroachments with the help of State Government,” he added.
