In a bid to appeal the voters, to vote for the Congress, AICC President Sonia Gandhi addressed two public rallies in Uttarakhand on Sunday. She addressed the public meeting in leetho ground, where BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting on Saturday, and Congress managed to bring large gathering there.
Seeing huge gathering, Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who has been busy in Haridwar because his wife Renuka Rawat, is contesting election against BJP candidate Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank from Haridwar constituency, could not hide his smile as if a long wish has been fulfilled.
In her address, Sonia lambasted against BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi by saying that he was gripped with fever of power. He has become so arrogant that the Holy Ganga herself called him to fight the election and that instead of raising the slogan of God, he has started the slogan of ‘Har Har Modi’.
He has become so important for power that even before the May 16, when counting would happen, he has started saying that public has given its mandate, Sonia added.
Appreciating the efforts of Chief Minister Rawat for expediting the restoration works on the Char Dham Yatra circuit, she said that due to his consistent effort now three out of four Dham including Gangotri and Yamunotri had re-opened on May 2 and Kedarnath re-opened on May 4, have already reopened so far. Badrinath shrine would reopen on May 5. For this, chief minister Rawat deserve lots of appreciation, she said.
Presenting the report card of the Congress-led UPA Government, she said "We gave the people the powerful anti-corruption tool of RTI, to promote education, we brought RTE and to ensure food we brought Food Security Act."
Instead of pointing an accusing finger at others, BJP PM candidate should introspect and find an anwer to the question as to why lokayukta was not appointed in Gujarat for the last 10 years. "Was it not to hide the misdeeds of his own GovernmentIJ" she asked while addressing a massive rally in Roorkee in Uttarakhand. She further said: "He should see when he shows an accusing finger at others where do his other fingers points."
