Anoop Nautiyal, former state convener of AAP and independent candidate from Dehradun Cant assembly constituency, has requested the election commission to take cognisance of active social media accounts of Chief Minister Harish Rawat. In the complaint directed to the Chief Election Commissioner, Nasim Zaidi, Nautiyal has said that the government funded social media accounts of Harish Rawat are being misused and it amounts to violation of Modal Code of Conduct which is enforced in the state.
“Government funds have been used to pay for these social media accounts during the past few years but are now being shown as personal social media accounts of the chief minister. I urge the Election Commission to instruct the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to discontinue using these social media accounts and create a new Face book page and a new Twitter profile,’’ the letter said.
Nautiyal said that the official Facebook page of the CM has 806,000 likes.
The listed website on the Facebook page till the declaration of the model code of conduct was cm.uk.gov.in which was changed to http://www.harishrawat.me after declaration of model code of conduct but what is questionable is that the page has still same number of likes (806000).
Nautiyal said that the status of twitter account of CM is same which has been changed from earlier cm.uk.gov.in to http://www.harishrawat.me now.
