The digital X-ray machine which was recently installed in the Doon hospital here developed a snag on Friday. Interestingly the state of the art machine was installed only a fortnight ago. The hospital authorities attributed the problem to the software of the machine which is installed at the department of radiology.

The Head of Department of Radiology, Doon Hospital,Dr Yateendra Singh told The Pioneer that printer could not print the images due to the problem in the software. He claimed that the engineers would fix the problem on Saturday.

The Rs 1.5 crore Machine of Allengers Company is capable of producing high resolution digital X-rays at a very fast speed. Digital radiography is a type of X ray in which digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. The machine is able to digitally transfer and enhance the image for the benefit of the radiologist. The machine is very fast as it bypasses the chemical processing time of the traditional X -rays.

Incidentally Doon hospital is the first government hospital to have facility of this type of machine. Its installation has made the task easy for the radiologists as it can produce 300 x rays per day. Doon hospital is the biggest hospital of the state and about 200 X-rays are done daily here.
