The newly appointed senior superintendent of police Pauri district Nivedita Kukreti Kumar said that the main challenge for police is to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic for the benefit of both the pilgrims and the local residents during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra season. The police will focus on the 21 kilometer- long stretch of the yatra route which passes through the district, she added.
After assuming charge as SSP, Nivedita told The Pioneer that her priority would be to curb crimes, improve law and order and ensure security of the people.
She said that the continued traffic congestion is one of the main problems in the district that needs immediate attention. The traffic system in Srinagar has been strengthened as it is part of the Char Dham Yatra route, she said.
She further said that the drive for the verification of the outsiders would intensify. Besides, she would ensure that unauthorized people do not move in cars or two-wheelers using Press stickers.
She said she would do everything to rid the roads of the traffic congestion and her stress is on Pauri and Kotdwar. She appealed to the people of Pauri to cooperate with police in eradicating the abuse of harmful substances being used by the students and the youths.
She said since the police force has returned from the Magh Mela duty, it would be activated and the drive of register-8 will be started soon for the verification police application in the villages
Nivedita said she is planning to start the defence training for the women in the district. The feeling of inferiority must go and the women must come out to inspire others, she said, adding that she would do everything possible to help them on any matter.
