'Smart classes' replace traditional teaching methods

Published on:

Private schools are now adopting ways to conduct ‘smart classes’ to enhance teaching. Putting an end to traditional teaching methods, schools are providing students new-age smart classrooms with lCD televisions, projectors, computers and audio-visual systems that give a whole new meaning to studying but at the same time standard of education is declining in Government schools.

According to Additional Secretary, Education, Radhika Jha, facilitating smart classes in each Government school will be very expensive. Jha said, “We are implementing new rules for improving education quality in Government schools. The department is conducting a learning survey in each school for judging the students capabilities and knowledge. We have already suspended 132 teachers who were not attending the schools properly. From next month we are making parents teachers meeting mandatory in every school so that parents know the educational standard of their kids,”she added.

For improvement in school education, syllabus is also redesigned and workbooks are included in the syllabus. Smart classes are good for learning but are expensive too, she added. Science teacher at Doon International School, Smriti said that smart class is much better than the books as it contains both audio and visuals. She said that children take more interest in smart class as compared to books.

Smart class is good especially for primary school students as they learn more from audio visual than from the still picture. Smart class gives practical knowledge to the kids and also helps them in understanding any topic easily and quickly, she added. A parent Neelam Rawat said that smart classes are good for children until it doesn’t harm their eyes. She also said that children are enjoying smart classes due to audio and visual facility.
