Small kids at risk as they try bursting firecrackers

Published on:

No to firecrackers’ messages which are issued time to time by the Government and other bodies like schools, seem to have had little impact on the people particularly youths. Even the small children are not behind in joining their elders in trying their hands in bursting these firecrackers.

However, keeping in view sensitivity of these firecrackers, the local administration here has already allocated separate spaces for the traders for selling these explosive materials.

As the Diwali festival is organised for three days i.e.  upto ‘Bhaiyadooj’ festival which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, so it seems there won’t be any letup in bursting of the firecrackers at least till ‘Bhaiyadooj’. Whereas many a number of youths have already purchased enough stock of the firecrackers, many others could also be seen thronging the shops of firecrackers here on Monday.

However, purchasing firecrackers on following days after main Diwali that was held on November 3, came out to be a bit beneficial for many of the firecracker buyers.

The shopkeepers’ main logic behind selling these firecrackers at cheaper rates is conclusion of the Diwali season with Bhiyadooj. The matter of fact is that firecrackers are burst mainly on Diwali occasion that is upto ‘Bhiaydooj’, apart from some other ceremonies like marriage.

Therefore, it is prudent on our part to dispose off as much firecrackers as we could do now, says Ahmed Sultan, a firecracker shopkeeper. Otherwise the stock of the unsold firecrackers would only mar our profit margin, maintains the shopkeeper.

The interesting fact is that though high inflation has had an adverse impact on every household item. But the  firecracker  buyers here have maintained their buying ability, Sultan adds. Your profit margin may be up and down as per depending on the sale. But the interesting fact is that the people are purchasing the firecrackers with same enthusiasm as they used to do earlier, he further says.

More so craze for bursting firecrackers has not been less among the people. Noises of bursting firecrackers even till wee hours of Monday only give that impression.

However, no any major untoward incident caused by fire crackers  has been reported from any part of the region so far here. In the meanwhile, the Nainital district police claims to have made tight security arrangements in view of the Diwali celebrations.
