The discovery in Jaspur of the decomposed body of an animal appearing like a small dinosaur has sparked off speculation among the locals and experts. The forest department has stated that nothing concrete can be said about the identity of the creature without conducting DNA and carbon dating tests.
According to information from sources, during digging and cleaning work in a 35 year old building in the compound of the electricity department office at Jaspur in Udham Singh Nagar district, the workers came across what remained of the body of a small dinosaur-like creature. The discovery created a stir among the labourers at the site. The police took possession of the finding and handed it over to the Ramnagar forest division.
The conservator of the Kumaon circle, Parag Madhukar Dhakate said that as the dinosaur is extinct the body found could not be that of a dinosaur but carbon dating test is required to confirm.
