The disaster experienced last month in Uttarakhand has also affected focus on the various construction and developmental works planned by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA). Though the authority is planning to offer application forms for homes in its residential project near ISBT from August, work on different developmental projects is advancing at a slow pace at present.

It should be mentioned here that the MDDA is undertaking work on various construction and developmental projects. The work on projects like the redevelopment of Chakrata Road and relocation of shop keepers of Indira Market as part of another redevelopment project has not progressed much. Apart from this the authority has also planned to develop eco-park near Mussoorie and residential projects. The disaster experienced last month in Uttarakhand seems to have shifted the focus of the State authorities which in turn has also affected the progress of various projects.

However, MDDA officials state that work on the residential project near ISBT is expected to start soon. The Housing and Urban Development Corporation limited (HUDCO) has drafted the DPR for this project which will comprise 688 residential units including 224 for middle income group, 144 for economically weaker section, 224 for lower income group and 96 general category flats.

The application forms for these are slated to be offered to the public in August. There is also provision for Rs 50,000 rebate for those buying the EWS units. Construction work is slated to begin after the Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Contro Board passes the project. The authority is planning to allocate the flats through lottery system with the start of the construction. Officials state that execution of other projects is expected to pick up pace in the near future.
