Works related to income certificate, caste certificate, domicile certificates, character certificate and other certificates at Janadhar office have been adversely affected for the past five days due to internet connection problems in Dehradun Tehsil. The internet service provider had discontinued the service at Tehsil around five days ago due to failure of the administrative officers to pay internet charges on time.

Moreover, after assuming charge of Dehradun District Magistrate, Chandrsh Kumar said that he would lay emphasis on strengthening e-services in the district. He had then directed the district officers to digitalise the documents to bring transparency as well as efficiency in the delivery of the services in the district.

Meanwhile, Right to Public Service Act has been implemented in the State, but applicants who submit applications for procuring income certificate, caste certificate, domicile certified, character certificate and other certificates in the Janadhar office are not being issued their certificates even after a fortnight  due to internet problems at Tehsil.

large number of people was witnessed standing outside Janadhar for submitting their applications, seeking such certificates or procuring certificates already made but most of them returned empty- handed. The Janadhar officials were seen getting involved in verbal arguments with the visitors due to the dragging delay in the issuance of the certificates.

A visitor said that these certificates are important for the students for their admission in various university degree courses and applying for government jobs. Due to lethargic approach of the administrative officers, internet charges were not paid to the internet service provider on time and the provider had discontinued the service at Tehsil five days ago. Under such circumstances, the Tehsil officials had no option but to remain in the office without work.

A Janadhar official said, “We receive around 200 applications, seeking these certificates, on a daily basis. Because of internet problems for the last five days, made certificates are not received at Janadhar office from Tehsil.”

Dehradun Tehsildar M Khandari said that as internet service providers had disconnected the internet services in the department around four days ago, such works are being adversely affected. Due to the delay in release of fund, internet service provider was not given internet charge on time. He expressed hope that department will soon pay internet charges to the service provider and service provider would start providing internet services to the department without delay.
