A day after the Roorkee court shootout, resulting in the death of a gangster, ADG law and order Ashok Kumar asked the police officers to slap Gangster Act against those who continue to commit crimes while out of the jails on bail. He also asked them to clamp down heavily on the gangsters active in the State by attaching their properties under the provisions of the act. He took stock of the law and order situation at a meeting with the senior officers of STF and cyber crime police stations in Dehradun on Tuesday. Post meeting, Kumar said that a slew of decisions has been taken in course of the meeting whose implementation would definitely help law and order to improve in the state.
While expressing deep concern over the spike in cyber crime cases across the state, he said that the police officers concerned have been instructed to promptly lodge FIRs regarding cases of ATM and other bank frauds. “We have decided to stamp out such crimes from the state while dealing such cases with a heavy hand. Aside from lodging FIRs promptly, the police officers concerned would ensure the swift arrests of those involved in such crimes. We have also taken a serious note in the spiralling harassment complaints of the women over social media. We are resolved to take prompt action on such complaints,” he said.
Sounding worried over the drug peddlers remaining active in the state with connivance from a section of the police staffers, Kumar said that stern action would be taken against such police personnel. “STF has been asked to go all-out against the drug mafia in coordination with the anti-narcotic bureau,” he said.
Kumar stressed on strengthening coordination between STF and the SOGs and said a monthly meeting between them would prove useful in raising quality of their anti-crime actions. “We have zero tolerance for crime, whatever its nature, and all the departments would act in coordination to stop crimes,” Kumar affirmed.
