SIT reaches Academy, grills officials

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by State police department to crack the Ruby Choudhary case, has reached the lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) campus and questioned few Academy officials on Saturday.

Police sources said the probe team members found in course of the grilling process that the lower-rung academy officials are being pressured by their seniors to dilute things by taking the blame on their own heads.

Sources further said senior police officers had reviewed evidences recovered in course of the investigation by SIT with other officers in details on Friday evening. The SIT members were directed to work on three or four issues remaining unanswered.

State Director General of Police BS Sidhu earlier announced that the investigation regarding Ruby case was in its final stage and the mystery would be unravelled in the coming two days.

Sources said that those conducting the probe were taken aback when an academy official, while being grilled, confessed to having bungled with things by providing Ruby with the entry card. However, he failed to divulge at whose behest he had done it.

Observers opined that the lower- rung academy officials were taking things on their heads to stop the blame reaching out to the doorsteps of their higher-ups.

“Besides, the probe going on at snail’s pace has made it easy for those involved to tamper with and even wipe out evidences that could have made the noose tighten around their necks. It will be interesting to see what SIT would conjure up finally by way of solving the befuddling mystery, dragging on for 25 days,” an observer said.
