In connection with the swindling case involving Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), Jolly Grant, Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SSP Dr Sadanand Date arrested one of the accused Sandeep Gupta, resident of Johri Road, Dehradun.

During interrogation, Gupta confessed that he used to invest the money with Rohit Chauhan, one of the prime accused, who used to purchase landed property. He had purchased some properties in Dehradun. SSP Date said such properties would be investigated into. Also, the probe team found that two persons Rohit Chauhan and Ankush Sagar, natives of New Delhi, were involved in swindling and had been operating from the national Capital. They are yet to be arrested despite the fact that the SIT team raided their houses.

Police sources revealed that names of several persons have been revealed from the data collected from the accused. However, they have not admitted of giving money to the conmen, seeking admission in  HIHT post- graduate course. Dehradun police had already arrested Rajiv Rana, Surjeet, Satish Negi and Sudhakar and seized Rs2 lakh from them on April 29.

These conmen had allegedly cheated several students and doctors from across the country by posing themselves as owners and administrative officers of HIHT and promising them admission in PG courses. Investigation revealed that the accused had cheated 15 doctors by duping them of huge sums varying from one lakh to Rs15 lakhs.
