Regarding Ruby Case, Defence lawyer Rajiv Raturi alleged that special investigation team (SIT) is delaying things by making full use of the investigating officer Shahjahan Ansari’s illness.
DGP BS Sidhu said that investigating officer Ansari has remained ill and there is no major development regarding the case. Meanwhile, the district court has extended Ruby’s judicial custody by 14 days on Thursday. Amid tight security, police brought Ruby Choudhary in the court from Sudhowala jail. Defence lawyer Raturi said that Ruby had appeared in the court on Thursday noon and court had sent her for another 14 days of judicial custody.
On Ruby’s behalf, Raturi had filed a plea, stating that Ruby was ill for the past few days. According to Raturi, Court had ordered Ruby’s medical checkup in the Doon Hospital. The jail authority might take Ruby to the Doon Hospital for her medical checkup soon, he added.
Raturi alleged that SIT is delaying the investigation to protect the academy officials. On Ruby’s behalf, he would soon file a petition, seeking her bail in the court, he added. SIT, formed by State Police to crack Ruby Choudhary case, has been investigating the case for the past one month. In course of the investigation, the SIT members collected relevant documents pertaining to Ruby. They too grilled lBSNAA officials.
Police sources had revealed that the lower-rung academy officials were being coerced by their seniors into diluting things by taking the blame on their own heads. Observers opined that things are being delayed with police citing the in-charge’s illness because the Union home ministry is yet to green light the exposure and arrest of the complicit academy officials.
